Marriage

Even though I have not experienced marriage, below are just my thoughts on it currently. I am sure once I am truly in it, it will change for me.

Marriage is about partnership and teamwork. Marriage isn’t a one-way street. It’s two people coming together trying to constantly figure out life and continue to find ways to keep the marriage fun and loving. Marriage is about compromise and sometimes sacrifice. I believe in putting the marriage first then the kids. Marriages can go downhill because people are not pouring into each other, other things become a priority. When prioritizing the married it sets an example for the kids and it allows the couples to pour into each other. They are placing a lot of value on the marriage because it takes work to stay together. Marriage is learning how to adapt to your partner’s changes throughout life. They will not always be the same person. We all go through growing pains and we shed our old skin. We make changes to our life, career, mind, body, etc. Marriage is a beautiful thing and often times it can get tough, but as long as the love is there and you both have an end goal, it’ll be easy to fight those battles that come before the marriage. In a marriage, your partner literally becomes your best friend, your other half, your support system, your adventure partner, sharing tea with each other, cracking jokes with each other, sharing secrets, and so much more. Prioritize marriage and make it fun, continue to learn from each other, and grow with each other. Pray with each other and pray as individuals. Seek marriage counseling to ensure that you steadily learn healthy ways to communicate with each other and learn how to truly understand one another. Also bringing difficult problems to therapy will help you guys tackle the issues rather than ruin the marriage. Marriage can be beautiful. With marriage, you and your partner create your own story and get to share it. Do not let other people’s marriage stories or journey depicts how you view marriage. It is different for everyone.
