Letting Go

Letting go has never been easy like a Sunday morning or as simple as tying a shoe. For me, it’s like the hesitation you experience before jumping out of a plane or off a cliff. It’s the back and forth of should I let this go. It’s the multiple trips around my mind just to still not have made a decision.

Letting go is similar to a child who has an attachment to their favorite teddy bear. You want it everywhere with you.. but the thing about children, they know how to let it go once it no longer serves its purpose. As for me, I still hold on even when the purpose has been served and it no longer benefits me.

Letting go is not easy for me simply because it’s hard for me to let people in. Once I let you in, I start to love you dearly and deeply. I have always looked at letting go as me losing something, but is the loss really mine? I don’t think so.

Letting go allows you to not become so attached to things. Letting go should show you how to just enjoy the individual, item, and many other things in that moment. Letting go should help you to realize that the replacement will be better. Letting go should teach you that it is okay to outgrow people, situations, stuff animals, etc. Letting go is when the worries, hesitations, fear is no longer in control and you finally jump out the plane or off that cliff.

It’s free falling but knowing that you will be just fine when you land. It’s trusting that you will be okay.. that you will survive. That you’re allowing room for new people, new experiences, growing opportunities and much more.

Love yourself enough to make room for new and the unfamiliar. Love yourself enough to let go.
